In 1981 at 9 months old, Marlon arrived in Providence with his mother and father from Guatemala. As is customary with his family and culture, a strong work ethic was instilled in him, and Marlon has been continuously working since he was 14 years old. Marlon always had a passion for working with and helping people. Unbeknownst to him, his true calling in finance would be found when he took a customer service job at a call center with Bank of America in 2013. After a year of working there he felt that the customer interactions were transactional which mitigated his ability to assist people with the financial issues they faced throughout their lives.
He then took on a customer facing role as a Relationship Banker at local bank branches. During the 4 years in that role Marlon learned that many of his customers lacked true financial literacy and that in order to truly have a comprehensive financial discussion with his clients, he needed to have more knowledge himself. In January of 2018, Marlon accepted a position with Merrill Edge. Within three months, he obtained both his Series 7 and 66 Licenses which allowed him to trade many types of securities. As a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative of Diversified Resources, LLC since November 2018, Marlon hopes to now truly be able to fulfill his passion of providing comprehensive advice while helping people make informed financial decisions.
Marlon currently lives in Smithfield with his wife Lindsay, their son Miguel and his dog Oreo. In his off time if you look hard enough, you’ll find him in the most remote places of New England doing landscape and Astro photography.
