KAREN J. BACON, MBA, CFP®

President

Although Karen now resides in Rehoboth, MA she still considers herself a Rhode Islander. She grew up in Warwick and graduated from URI in 1993 with a double major of Italian and Business.  After graduation she moved to Boston to work for Putnam Investments in their Portfolio management division. During that time, Karen’s older brother pitched a business idea to her.  Soon thereafter they opened Steven Wright Productions – a live music promotions business which managed The Strand Theatre in downtown Providence, RI.  They successfully grew and managed the business for 5 years promoting over 1,000 live music events including Bob Dylan, B.B. King, The Black Crowes, and Oasis.  Karen subsequently earned her MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College in 2001.  She is a Registered Representative and Principal, Investment Advisor Representative, Certified Long Term Care Planner and licensed insurance broker.  Karen obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional certification in 2007.  In January of 2015, Karen became the President of Diversified Resources, LLC after her father and Founder, George E. Wright retired.

For the last 15 years Karen was recognized for excellence in insurance and investments by being named a Five Star Wealth Manager, as seen in RI Monthly Magazine.*  Karen has been a comprehensive financial advisor for over 20 years.  She is a member of the Estate Planning Council of RI and the Past President. In addition, she is a member of the Financial Planning Association.

Karen and her husband Brad have two young sons Zackary and Alexander.  Their beagles, Annie and Rosie, round out the family.

The CFP® designation is conferred by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. To earn the credential, each CFP® candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university and three years of full-time personal financial planning experience. In addition, candidates must take the CFP® Certification examination and complete a CFP®-board registered program, or hold an accepted designation, degree, or license. Every two years, CFP® certificants must complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education. More information regarding the CFP® can

CLTC stands for “Certified in Long-Term Care,” a designation granted by the Corporation For Long-Term Care Certification. CLTC graduates have completed a rigorous multidisciplinary course that focuses on the profession of long-term care. Every CLTC graduate is required by The CLTC Board of Standards, Inc. to successfully complete an ethics course requirement every two years.

Melissa Capuano

Vice President

Melissa has been a cornerstone of Diversified Resources, LLC since joining the firm in 2008. She began in an administrative support role and quickly established herself as an essential member of the team, earning a promotion to Client Services Manager in 2015. Her continued dedication and contributions were further recognized in 2024 when she was promoted to Vice President.

In her role as Vice President, Melissa oversees client services, ensuring a consistently high standard of support and responsiveness. She also manages daily office operations and plays an integral role in assisting Karen J. Bacon and the team with ongoing compliance responsibilities.

Melissa brings extensive experience in customer and financial services, having previously worked in banking and with CPAs. She completed all coursework for the Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™ (FPQP®) designation through the College for Financial Planning in 2014 and holds an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from the New England Institute of Technology.

Outside of her professional commitments, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband, John, their two children, Devyn and Leah, and their dog, Ringo.

Thomas J. Airozo

Portfolio Analyst

Thomas joined Diversified Resources, LLC in August 2014 and quickly established himself as a valuable member of the company. Striving for the broadest depth of knowledge he can acquire, Thomas is in pursuit of his Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor (APMA®) designation.

Thomas grew up in East Providence, RI and currently resides in Warwick, RI. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Rhode Island with a BA/BS degree in Finance in May 2014.  During his time there, he was a member of numerous honors societies. Most notably, he was recognized for his academics as a part of the Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society that recognizes only the premier business students for their excellence.

When he finds off-time, Thomas enjoys golfing, watching sports, reading, and spending time with his family, friends and his cat, Maxwell.

Kelli J. Bacon

Client Services Manager

Kelli embarked on her journey with Diversified Resources, LLC in 2017, starting in an administrative role. She quickly mastered the nuances of the financial services sector and, in 2024, ascended to the position of Client Services Manager. In this role, Kelli oversees daily operations, ensuring all client interactions are handled with the utmost professionalism and strict adherence to compliance standards, all aimed at enhancing client satisfaction.

As Client Services Manager, Kelli embodies the core values of Diversified Resources, LLC. Her dedication and teamwork make her an invaluable asset to the organization.

Outside her professional commitments, Kelli finds true fulfillment in spending time with her family, whether enjoying quality moments with her children or delighting in the company of her grandson.

Kalie Chabot

Client Services Associate

Kalie joined the firm in January 2025, marking a positive start to the new year. Prior to this, she dedicated herself to various roles within the medical field, beginning her career immediately after high school in 2016.

Kalie’s love for continuous learning and supporting others shaped her work in healthcare and ultimately led her to pursue further studies in business administration. Kalie is eager to continue her professional growth with Diversified Resources, with plans to pursue a degree in business management and further her certification in human resources.

At Diversified Resources LLC, Kalie serves as the first welcoming face you’ll encounter upon entering the office. Despite her relatively short time with the company, she has enthusiastically contributed to the implementation of new procedures designed to enhance office efficiency and looks forward to continuing to ensure smooth operations for all. Outside of work, Kalie deeply values her family, community, and the relationships she nurtures. Kalie’s compassionate nature remains one of her defining qualities, guiding her in both her professional and personal endeavors.

Gianni Mattera

Associate Paraplanner

Gianni began his career in financial services at New York Life in 2022, where he developed a strong foundation in insurance and client relations. During his time there, a professional connection led him to Diversified Resources LLC, where he joined in February 2025.

At Diversified Resources, Gianni continues to expand his expertise in financial planning and wealth management. He is currently pursuing his Series 7 and 66 licenses, along with the Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™ (FPQP®) designation, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. Beyond his professional pursuits, Gianni enjoys an active lifestyle that includes golf and soccer, and he treasures time spent with family and close friends.

George E. Wright

Founder

George began his career with MetLife as an insurance agent and agency manager.  In 1983 he left MetLife and founded Diversified Resources, LLC a registered Broker/Dealer and Registered Investment Advisor.  During his 33 years as a self-employed business owner, George cultivated long term relationships with hundreds of clients, many of whom became life-long friends.

Although George retired in December of 2014 as President of Diversified Resources, LLC he still maintains an office at the firm.  He remains readily accessible to the staff, providing guidance and expertise akin to that of Chairman of the Board. Prior to his retirement as President and full time Financial Advisor he held the professional designations of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).  He has spoken nationally, appeared on television and radio regarding financial matters, taught financial planning at the URI adult education extension as well as Financial Planning for Bankers for the RI Chapter of The American Institute of Banking (AIB).  George is a past President of the Rhode Island chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).  He is a former member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and Estate Planning Council of RI (EPC-RI).  In 2022, his daughter, Karen, as President of the Estate Planning Council of RI, presented him with the EPCRI’s Lifetime Achievement Award. 

George enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family, most especially his grandsons’ Zackary & Alexander.
